Nextwaves Industries joins the RAIN Alliance: A strategic milestone for Vietnam’s RFID ecosystem
Nextwaves Industries is proud to announce that we have officially joined the RAIN Alliance, a global organization that brings together leading companies, research institutions, and innovators in the field of UHF RFID, also known as RAIN RFID. This announcement is more than just a piece of good news, it represents a strategic milestone in Nextwaves’ long term journey, reaffirming our vision to build and expand Vietnam’s RFID technology ecosystem on a global scale.
Joining the RAIN Alliance is the result of years of continuous effort in research, product development, and real world deployment of RFID UHF solutions designed, engineered, and controlled by Nextwaves. The UHF RFID inlays and chips used in Nextwaves product lines are designed and manufactured by Nextwaves itself, which allows us to optimize performance, quality, and reliability for the specific requirements of each application scenario.
What the RAIN Alliance is and why it matters
The RAIN Alliance was established with a mission to accelerate the adoption and advancement of UHF RFID technology worldwide. It acts as a bridge between chip manufacturers, inlay and tag producers, reader manufacturers, solution providers, enterprise users, and research institutions. Through this network, the RAIN Alliance helps shape standards, share knowledge, and drive innovation across industries such as supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, retail, asset management, healthcare, automotive, libraries, and many other sectors.
Within the RAIN Alliance ecosystem, UHF RFID is not treated as an isolated identification technology. Instead, it is positioned as a foundational layer of the Internet of Things, where every physical object can be assigned a digital identity, connected to data platforms, and managed in real time. Membership in this community enables companies to stay ahead of technological trends, gain access to the latest research and best practices, and actively contribute to the evolution of global standards and ecosystems.
Strategic benefits for Nextwaves as a RAIN Alliance member
As a member of the RAIN Alliance, Nextwaves gains access to a rich body of technical knowledge, market insights, research results, and real world deployment case studies from around the world. This helps us shorten experimentation cycles, avoid repeating known pitfalls, and accelerate innovation across our inlay, tag, reader module, and software product lines.
Beyond knowledge, the global partner network inside the RAIN Alliance opens up collaboration opportunities with chip manufacturers, reader vendors, solution consultants, system integrators, and research organizations. This allows Nextwaves to build more comprehensive RFID solutions that tightly integrate hardware, software, data platforms, and value added services, better addressing the needs of enterprises in Vietnam and the broader region.
Participation in the Alliance’s technical working groups also allows Nextwaves engineers to contribute directly to the proposal, evaluation, and standardization of technical specifications, test methods, and interoperability guidelines for the RAIN RFID ecosystem. Through this process, the perspectives and requirements of the Vietnamese and regional markets can be represented and reflected in the global standards that shape the future of the technology.
From hardware provider to a complete RFID solutions ecosystem
Nextwaves does not position itself solely as a manufacturer of RFID hardware such as inlays, tags, and readers. Our ambition is to build a comprehensive RFID solutions ecosystem. The RAIN RFID inlays and tags designed and produced by Nextwaves are optimized for a wide range of applications, including product identification in retail, warehouse management, asset tracking, medical device management, library item management, supply chain traceability, and production line monitoring in factories.
In parallel with hardware, we invest heavily in software and data platforms, including tag management systems, real time data collection infrastructure, integration with ERP, WMS, MES, and CRM systems, as well as analytics dashboards and customized reporting tools. Our goal is to help enterprises move beyond simply “reading tags” to “transforming RFID data into operational value”, cutting costs, reducing loss, improving process efficiency, and elevating customer experience.
With the support of the RAIN Alliance, Nextwaves is in a stronger position to ensure that our solutions are compliant with international standards, easily integrated into existing IT landscapes, and scalable to multi site and multi country deployments. This is particularly critical for export oriented manufacturers, cross border retail chains, and multinational corporations operating across different regions.
Recognition of Vietnam based R&D and manufacturing efforts
Becoming a RAIN Alliance member is also a recognition of Nextwaves’ long term commitment to research, development, and local manufacturing in Vietnam. From chip architecture design and inlay development to antenna optimization, testbed design, and performance validation in real environments, Nextwaves consistently follows the path of mastering core technologies rather than only importing and assembling existing components.
We believe that building strong, locally rooted technology companies with deep R&D capabilities, spanning from hardware foundations to software platforms, is essential for Vietnam to grow into a regional innovation hub in identification and Internet of Things technologies. The RAIN Alliance provides an international forum where these efforts can be recognized, benchmarked, and further elevated through dialogue, learning, and collaboration with global partners.
Our commitment to the RAIN RFID community and the Vietnamese tech ecosystem
As a member of the RAIN Alliance, Nextwaves is committed to actively contributing to the Alliance’s initiatives, technical working groups, interoperability programs, technical workshops, global conferences, and real world deployment campaigns. We aim to share our implementation experience in the Vietnamese market while bringing global best practices back to our local customers and partners.
Nextwaves also plans to collaborate more deeply with universities, research institutes, and startup communities in Vietnam. The knowledge, standards, and resources from the RAIN Alliance will serve as a solid foundation for new research projects, lab environments, training programs, and pilot products. This will give young Vietnamese engineers early exposure to global standards and methodologies, helping build a high quality talent pool for the IoT and automatic identification industries.
We are convinced that close collaboration between industry, international organizations, and the local tech community will create a strong foundation for Vietnam not only to adopt but also to co create the future of RAIN RFID technology. Nextwaves’ membership in the RAIN Alliance is just the beginning of that long journey, and we are ready to work alongside customers, partners, and the broader community to build a future where every object can be connected, identified, and managed in a smarter, safer, and more sustainable way.
